WHAT A WEEK!!!

Sooo... I was almost a single mom all week M-Sunday last week.  My husband works for a company that has UNION workers and they went on strike last week.  He got chosen to work 12 hour shifts in lieu of this. So he worked 10am - 10pm every day last week.  So I worked and was at home with the boys every sing week night and then ALL DAY Saturday and Sunday! OMG!! NOW I have a taste of being a single parent with two kids is like. It's so freaking hard! And I didn't even take them in the morning. Husband was still able to take them. Talk about tired! So good thing is that he got paid for 84 hours last week. I don't know HOW people work 80 hour weeks. It's so funny though. On Saturday and Sunday mornings, I would walk out the room or try to run up to the store and my boys would be like, Where's Mommy? Where is she going and I'm like, ummm I've been with you every single minute when we were at home, and you still want me around? What about daddy!?? LOL!! Unfortunately, they have NOT come to an agreement, but they are still on strike. Luckily, my husband said they told them what days the needed off this week and he is not working Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, so I'm cook with that. Hate to say the money ain't bad and we NEED it. :)

Yesterday was our 6 year anniversary and he wasn't even home. I had planned this weekend for us to go to the Zoo with the boys Saturday and then have my parents watch the boys on Sunday for a nice dinner.  What ended up happening was I took the boys to my parents house Saturday and then I cooked pot roast on Sunday with no hubby home to eat it fresh. IT Sure was good though.Mother in Law recipe. :) I did on Saturday get a mani/pedi, so that was relaxing...

I was able to get a few things done when they were napping Sunday, like organize their drawers , clean up my room, go through the mail etc... We went to Target and later I took them to the park where another one of their classmates was there, so they started playing with her and I started chatting with the mom. :)

I'm starting my 3rd week at my new job at the Marketing Agency and I simply love it! I also loved the 2 week "fat" check I got today also. Loving this new job and the raise! :)

Well soccer is coming to an end with 2 games left and on to t-ball in June. Today is the last day to sign them up, so that is what I'll be doing on my lunch break. I also need to call the swimming lesson guy today on when I can sign him up for that. It's basically for two weeks M-F and then M-Th for 30 minutes. I've heard this one of the best ways to go! They learn so much more and faster if you go every day and not once a week or twice a week etc... And he only does 2 per class, so it's perfect for my boys!! We got many recommendations for this guy, so I'm excited.. We'll see how they do and I'll keep you posted.

One good thing about this extra money is not only do we have extra to pay down our debt, but my husband offered to give some of this money to FINALLY get me and IPAD!!! I was so shocked because he has been all about paying off debt which I am too, but I think I'll let this one time slide and take him up on this offer! :) We are also getting a MUCH needed kitchen table. That's coming from my paid out vacation from my old job....  I have some really cute pics of the boys we took a month ago. I finally got the cd back this Saturday. I'll try to post them this week!  Happy Monday

Children's Books

I need more Children Books for the boys.. Does anyone know where I can purchase cheap/inexpensive Children's books for my boys. I've been slacking on reading to them at home due to NO new books, but want to start back stocking up.  And now pay like an ARM and a Leg at B&N etc..

Also, I've never taken my kids to the library. Mainly because I don't go anymore and my boys talk so loud!!! Anyways, when is a good age to introduce them to the library? I know they have events there for toodlers and mostly these are held during the day for Stay at Home moms... Anyone have any ideas?

On another note, this weekend was super busy and it wasn't really intended to be, but geez did DFW have great weather.  I ran in the FW Zoo 5K, which was fun, but i didn't do very well. Next time. It had been a year since I competed... Then the boys had they team soccer pics at 10am and then a game at 11am, where Preston cried like 7 times. He's only cried in one other game. What happened was that the other team had very fast boys and they pushed Preston all over the place and the Preston would push back and then he would start crying. It was a mess!!  We only have 3 more games.  This was the MOST aggressive team we've played. I'm ready to move on to T-Ball where there isn't man on man contact! LOL!

Then we met a friend and her twin boys at Legoland in Grapevine. What a great place. It's not very big, but the boys LOVED It! Their favorite area was the build a lego car and race in down the ramp! :)

That evening we had some other friends swing by with their little girl. We hadn't seen them in like 2 months.

Sunday, some moms from the boys daycare met at a local park for a picnic. It was a nice park, that I hadn't been to. Had Volleyball (sand), basketball and a great "age appropriate" playground. It was nice b/c there were so many helpers with my boys and one of the girls brought sand stuff, so all the kids went down and played in the sand. Needless to say, the boys needed a bath afterwards.. :)

Then they napped in the car on the way to see "A day out with Thomas the Train". This is where they have a real train , but with Thomas's face , that you can ride for 25 minutes. They were already sold out, but we got to enjoy other festivities.

We plan to take the boys on a train here in DFW. Either Dallas's or FW's, just for fun. CHASE really wanted to do the BIG train. I felt so bad.

Our 6 year anniversary is April 29th. We were going to go out to the zoo(since I got a free ticket from doing the zoo run and the boys are still '2 years old' ;) hahaha. But we'll see. Maybe take them to this new restaurant in FW called "The Wood Shed". We'll see.

New Job and the weekend

My new job! I do love it! I like what I'm doing. I love the whole Marketing industry. Well I guess I love my job this first week! :) hahahaha... People are nice.. I just like it. I don't regret leaving my prior company at all..  
With this job, there is more flexibility. I can work from home again easily. My manager is a working mom with young kids and said she totally understands when there sick and I can work from home those days no problem.  Of course more pay is always nice. :)

I'm running the 5K in the FW Zoo Run tomorrow. I'm targeting 10.5 min/mile, so wish me luck! It's supposed to actually be kind of cool in the morning, which is good.

Then the boys have soccer pics and a game at 11. Then heading off to Legoland with the boys. They are 2 still, so i can NOT pay for them. It's expensive!

Then we have some friends stopping by Saturday evening.

Excited about the weekend. I think my husband and I are going to do a movie tonight and drop are kids off at the Kids Park thing close the theater. It's affordable adn the kids a TONS of fun. Since we will only be needed it for 2.5 hours at the most.

Necessary Endings - New beginnings

I've left my current employer last week and I am moving on to a new position at a Marketing Agency! So excited! I wasn't looking intently, but just put my resume out there and was contacted by their recruiter.

Anyways, I have this week off, so I'm TRYING to do work around the house, clean , Organize etc... I hope I can atleast get 50% of it done.

SO today was Chase's first day in Preston's class. He's finally potty trained, so yay!! Only pullups at Night time... It's greatness!!
 I can't believe I never posted this last week, but here it is!

So I love it here so far... Learning about the Marketing Industry is great! I also have the ability to work from home too and my boss is super cool about working moms and how they can get sick and stuff comes up.

My sister's coming to town!

My sister , that lives in California is coming in town tomorrow till Wednesday, along with her 2 kids and her husband. I'm so freaking excited. We are going Saturday to see The Hunger Games. I got her to read the books, so we are super excited!!!

My nephew is also turning 4 so we are doing professional pictures at a park near my parents house on Sunday and then having a family birthday party at home with a surprise bounce house!

Then I'm taking a vacation day on Tuesday and we are all going to the Fort Worth Zoo! I think it will still be sunny and warm. This weekend Dallas/FW area is expecting 80's and sunny! Yippee!!! I love warm weather! :)

So Chase is finally pooping in the toilet, yay!! So they only wear pull ups at night! I'm satisfied. Sometimes they do wake up dry... So that's good.

The boys are playing indoor and outdoor soccer right now, but the indoor only has 3 more games and outdoor starts this saturday. Then we will follow with swimming and baseball this summer. It so much fun watching them in organized sports! I'll have to post pictures soon.

Happy Friday! I got my bonus today! Who hoo!!! It's all going to bills and getting the car fixed! Whooo hooo!! :)

This weekend is a pretty relaxed weekend. We only have the boys soccer game at 3pm tomorrow. Nothing else is going on. Which is good b/c its going to be cold and rainy this weekend.

Well our kitchen sink faucet broke Monday evening. So my husband and my dad are installing a brand new one. That's cool and all, but I didn't want to give up that money for a faucet when there are plenty of other things we could put that money too. :( Atleast we didn't have to hire a plummer and pay for labor! Thanks Daddy!!

Anyways. Still looking for motivation to work out. I see NONE in my future. Oh well.

Dave Ramsey has me laughing on his radio show during the week b/c some of the things he's says, I TOTALLY said to myself before! Hilarious! I was so stupid!! Things I made myself believe was a mind of a "Broke" person and I am that, but NOT FOR LONG!!

Things I pick up on reading others blogs

I find myself repeating things that other mom's on the blogs I read do. For example , last night after we came from riding our bikes and from the park, the boys NEVER are happy about washing their hands. So I decided to use the scenario that Sarah posted in her blog here.

Basically, I said there are Germs on your hands when you play outside and if they get into your tummy, it makes your tummy hurt! They were like "germs?". I was like "yes, germs". Then Preston starts his reasoning and repeating thing. SO basically, I think I got them on board with washing their hands now. I guess I you just need a little help in how to approach certain ideas to you kids and that's what I love about reading other mom's blogs. By the way, Sarah is a mom of triplets who works a full time job 40 + hours a week(and commutes an hour each way by train) and her husband works too!

TGIF!! On another note, The boys have their 2 soccer game at noon tomorrow. I'm excited. We'll see how many times Preston touches the ball with his hands this time! Other than that , it'll be a pretty laid back weekend. Meaning No money spending! Yay!! I'm going to take Abby's advice here and save a little each week for my ipad. So I gave up my Benihana's habit for Lent. That'll get me started.

Workout: Need to start that back up again along with my eating, so I going to try to get back on Shakeology to help out. Here's the new flavor here! I can't wait to try it tomorrow morning. Thanks Christina!

Friday off

So this past Friday, I took vacation day. Not really, it was more like a Comp day(for working Sunday Jan 1st) anyways, I had a ton of errands to run.

Like, getting a massage(which sucked. I need to stick with Chiropractor massasge therapist), getting shin guards and socks for the boys, Mary Kay order pick up, etc...

I wanted a new affordable outfit for my friends shower I was hosting Saturday, so after seeing some really cute pieces from my blog friend here, I decided to hit up Forever 21.

Now, I've never really been a FAN of this place. But my mind has changed since then and so have my financial situations. I mean, I didn't even know that you can't return things for a refund, only exchange policy! Anyways, I thouroughly enjoyed some of the inexpensive pieces they had! Totally , can work it in conjunction with clothes I already have! What I got was a skinny bright orange belt(it's not really orange, but I don't know the name of the color) , a off white blazer jacket, and a cute sleeveless , striped blouse type shirt to go under the jacket. I'm not going say what I paid, but it was definitly affordable. So they had SOOO much stuff. The store is just huge! WHo has time to go through every single rack? Not me. Anyways, I plan to go back and get some more things when the budget says I can, but it was most exciting to buy cute stuff for a cheap price and fashionable! :) H&M is the same way, but I actually haven't found anything I've wanted to purchased since they first opened the store up last year. I have only been twice though. Like i said, who has the time? Not me!

Okay, 2 posts in one hour. Now off to listen to the Dave Ramsey show online. 1-4pm. takes me through my day at work. :)

Soccer, Soccer and more....

Saturday Preston and Chase participated in their first organized sport. Soccer. It was indoor which helped with the whole out of bounds issue we'll face later. They did SOOOOO Good! They are both fast, but Preston dominated with being more aggressive. That's just his nature rather than Chase is laid back. It was a cold rainy day saturday too! Perfect for indoor soccer. I'll post the photos at the bottom. My camera is old and just a Canon Powershot with 10 Mgpixels, so a lot of the photos came out dark. Preston kept trying to pick up the ball and move it so he got the whistle blown on him a lot at first, but by the end , he got the hang of it! :)

Later, I headed up the a resturant where a friend of mine was having a mini shower for her 2nd little girl. It was just a gathering of friends/family , gift cards and diapers.

Other than that, more stuff has gone down, but I don't feel like writing about it! LOL!
